Summer Days (And Nights...)

Tourqouise Sheer Maxi: Awear
Bike Necklace: Accesorize
Handbag: Aldo

I bought this Maxi dress a few weeks ago and have been dying for an excuse to break it out! Last night I attended a talk from Liz Walker as part of Newcastle Fashion Week, and as the weather was so lovely, and it was our last night all together for three whole months, me and two friends decided to go for a meal and a few cocktails at Revolution before hand so I thought the dress would be perfect the occasion and the weather. Of course everything had to match well with my beautiful sun tan burn!

Strawberry Woo Woo's, the perfect addition to a summer day!

Newcastle Fashion Week.

As you may or may not know, this week is Newcastle Fashion Week. There are many fashion themed events being held in the city, and tonight, was no exception.

I was invited to attend a talk from Elizabeth Walker at Northumbria University and I was massively looking forward to it. She talked to us about her life, her career and Fashion in general. she had such an amazing and inspiring life, and told us all about the places all over the world that she has travelled to, making me envious of the places she's been!
Liz Walker

During the talk she outlined how she started out at ballet school, before deciding that a career in ballet wasn't what she wanted, as it was "too much hard work and not enough time for boys!" She then applied to art school, and for those of you also in this position do not give up hope, it took her two attempts at applying, so just keep at it!

The first magazine she worked at was 'Harper's Bazaar' which was then called 'Harper's Queen', and from here she told us about all the people she knows in the industry, people whose work I greatly admire such as Mario Testino, David Bailey and Anna Wintour, and how life on fashion magazines isn't always as glamorous as it seems! (She told us that we shouldn't even think about having friends or a social life during fashion weeks!)

She told us about how she didn't really want to take the job at Marie Claire, but that "Jobs are like boyfriends, the less you want them, the more they want you!" and so she took her career to Marie Claire, where she worked for eighteen years, before freelancing at the Telegraph and The Times.

Throughout the talk she was funny, and charmed us the entire audience, who hung on her every word. She graced us with many anecdotes about her career, including one where Manolo Blahnik wore a pair of stiletto's because: "If you girl's have to suffer for my art then I should too!"

She has released 'The Style Book' and is currently working on a second book 'The Pattern Book'. It is available to buy in several countries, including The UK, Spain, France, America and Japan.

This was such a fabulous talk from such an inspirational fashion legend. we also had the chance to feel like VIP's with our very own 'Reserved' Seats and free Jubilee style cupcakes, courtesy of The Great British Cupcakery! I could get used to these freebies!

Everything Changes.

I'm sitting here in my university room, that has been my home for the last 9 months and I'm feeling slightly sad. I have a love/hate relationship with this flat, (Mostly Hate) but the last few weeks have been so nice that I'm truly getting sad to leave. as I sit here, there are three of us left, and the other two people that live here are the two I get along with very well, so we've been wrapping up the year and getting sentimental.
Sunny weather has helped MASSIVELY. had a lovely little beach trip and went for a sunbathing session on a roof. burnt my face. Love being ginger.

I'm very excited about moving into a house next year with six of my friends, and having a bigger, nice room. so many things about halls are good, but there are so many things that annoy us all! For example the scuffle I had with two tumble dryers yesterday, that managed to make my clothes wetter than they had originally been! I'm also looking forward to not seeing an ugly naked guy every time I look out my window next year. (Think famous ugly naked guy from friends- except worse!!)

All that aside though, I honestly have had the best year of my life and I can only hope uni continues to get better and better. Living it up next year may not be as fun though, because lets face it, you're only a fresher once! I'm going to stop now before I make you all cry! #SoppyBlogPost

These are a few little pictures of my uni room, in a very tidy state (sort of). Yes, that is fruit you spy on my dresser, my kitchen cupboards not big enough. Before you gasp at my Nail varnish shelf, dont lie, we've all got one and if you dont, you wish you did!

The Pretty View from my window. A car park. looking forward to a better view next year!

Clinique Chubby Sticks

I talked about buying one of these products for AGES! I never actually got round to it, but at christmas, I got one as a present and it lived up to everything I thought it would be! I really like how moisturising they are, and I think the colour is really well pigmented.

For anyone who isn't too familiar with these products, the packaging describes them as "Moisturising Lip colour balm" and the Clinique website says:
"Chubby Stick Moisturizing Lip Colour Balm is a lip treatment with sheer colour that relieves dry, cracked lips and provides immediate moisturisation. The unique pencil-style applicator provides easy to apply sheer soft lip colour and rolls up for ease of use. "

I completely agree with all of Cliniques comments, these are a dream! I like them for the daytime, because sometimes lipstick is just too much, but lip gloss is not enough, and these are the perfect middle ground as far as I'm concerned.

I have very dry skin, and this does affect my lips, and they often are too cracked for me to wear lipstick, but because these act as a balm, I can wear them anytime I like, and I don't have to worry about it cracking on my lips.

The only shade I currently own is called 'Fuller Fig', and isn't as scary as it sounds or first looks. It looks slightly brown when you first see it, but when you put it on it goes a nice shade, which I can't really explain and is apparently impossible to capture on camera, especially in badly lit uni housing! But take my word for it, it is really nice!

Clinique have recently released their latest shades for summer, and I am already eyeing up most of them, mainly because I cannot wait for an excuse to wear summer shades. If the weather fails to appear, my clothes and makeup shall just have to bring summer to Ireland on their own!

Big big apologies.

I am here to apologise big time for the lack of posts, and in advance for how little there will be for a while.
I have a big list in my notebook of posts I was planning, but this is the last week of uni and I have assingments to do and portfolios to sort out, and also, sad times, my beloved little Laptop has broken. Its only a year and a half old and shouldn't be broke, but there you have it! have left it in to get repaired and I wont have it for a week and a half, big time annoyance as I have my entire life on it! Hopefully they wont have to wipe my hard drive or I have a few sleepless nights of rewriting assingments ahead!! living in the library until i have it back to do work.

Sorry in advance, and I promise I have loads of posts ready when my laptop and my life are mine again.
