McQ lfw show 2012

McQueen has long been known for spectacular fashion shows, not just in terms of the clothes on display, but also in the amazing drama involved in the show itself. from a holographic Kate Moss in 2006, to the Spray painted white dress in 1998, This seasons London Fashion Week show is up there with the rest of them.

With Autumn Leaves scattered along the catwalk, There certainly was an autumnal feel to the show all around. There was a military feel to the clothes, and a colour scheme of Deep reds, greens, and blacks.

the show started out mild as McQueen shows go, the finale was truly something else....
A model walks down the catwalk dressed as a bride, when the lights go down, and she wanders into a forest, full of falling leaves, and then ends up in a shed. it's bonkers, it's spectacular and it's genius all at once.

The Finale in which the bride disappears into a shed in the forest!

The finale aside, there are many of the clothes which were outstanding, with their full Skirts and massive net underlays, and belted jackets keeping silouhettes tailored and structured.

one dress which largely stood out for me was the dresses which appeared to be made of Flowers. Stunningly beautiful, and completely feminine, they are exactly what a girl needs in the winter to brighten up their day.

Sarah Burton takes feminine florals to a new level.
This collection has Sarah Burton written all over it, while still holding true to the McQueen asthetic, and, as she explained, the way to make McQ work is to start with the assumption that clothes should be beautiful, at any price. I think, the way she has managed to make it work, is that she has taken the key areas of the McQ aesthetic, but put her own twist on them, and I think that this makes it a stunning collection!
