Student Fashion Show.

Last week was Sunderland fashion week and the Bridges shopping centre held various fashion related events every day.
on Friday the Fashion Product and Promotion students from University of Sunderland held a fashion show. they designed and made all of the clothes themselves, and I was very impressed with the fact they made all the handbags themselves!
These students may well be the future of fashion design and this proves that they are likely to succeed.
These are some of my favourite outfits from the show!

Burberry Prorsum LFW show

I know the show was a while ago, but I was doing this for uni so spent a good bit of time editing it first.

Guests to the Burberry Prorsum show arrived to the show space in Hyde Park to find a large Greenhouse, which gave the sense of being in the middle of the country, while in fact being in the centre of London, and this highlighted the recurring theme of the entire show. Clothes which seem office appropriate were teamed with coats which wouldn’t be out of place in the countryside, and Flat caps.
Not only does it have country chic written all over it, the collection and the show seemed quintessentially British, just like the brand itself. The entire setting gave the event the feel of a garden party and the celebrities on the front row were extremely British, from Alexa Chung to Samantha Cameron, and Will young to Rosie-Huntington Whiteley.

The Grey and Beige were the colours of the key pieces, but everything was truly brightened up by accents in mustard and deep purple, including belts and handbags as well as the stripes on the bottom of dresses and coats. This meant that usually dull colours were left looking anything but dull!

The collection was entirely feminine with gorgeous silhouettes, and cinched in waistlines. There were lace pencil skirts with peplums hitting three trends all at once. These were teamed with cute t-shirts featuring cartoon animals on the front which paired professional looks with playful looks.

The accessories of the collection were playful as well, from the Bow belts to the floral prints, the collection is the height of femininity. The studded leather gloves and heeled shoe boots were a constant feature throughout the show and highlighted how versatile they were as they went with everything on show.

As the show ended something it suddenly started raining heavily outside, but only on the Burberry showspace, and inside the marquee fake snow started falling, the models came out carrying striped umbrellas in coordinating colours, that matched the stripes featured on some of the clothes.

The show and the clothes- brilliantly British even down to the weather.

McQ lfw show 2012

McQueen has long been known for spectacular fashion shows, not just in terms of the clothes on display, but also in the amazing drama involved in the show itself. from a holographic Kate Moss in 2006, to the Spray painted white dress in 1998, This seasons London Fashion Week show is up there with the rest of them.

With Autumn Leaves scattered along the catwalk, There certainly was an autumnal feel to the show all around. There was a military feel to the clothes, and a colour scheme of Deep reds, greens, and blacks.

the show started out mild as McQueen shows go, the finale was truly something else....
A model walks down the catwalk dressed as a bride, when the lights go down, and she wanders into a forest, full of falling leaves, and then ends up in a shed. it's bonkers, it's spectacular and it's genius all at once.

The Finale in which the bride disappears into a shed in the forest!

The finale aside, there are many of the clothes which were outstanding, with their full Skirts and massive net underlays, and belted jackets keeping silouhettes tailored and structured.

one dress which largely stood out for me was the dresses which appeared to be made of Flowers. Stunningly beautiful, and completely feminine, they are exactly what a girl needs in the winter to brighten up their day.

Sarah Burton takes feminine florals to a new level.
This collection has Sarah Burton written all over it, while still holding true to the McQueen asthetic, and, as she explained, the way to make McQ work is to start with the assumption that clothes should be beautiful, at any price. I think, the way she has managed to make it work, is that she has taken the key areas of the McQ aesthetic, but put her own twist on them, and I think that this makes it a stunning collection!
